Acorn Build Up: Pruning (11/29)

Pruning

John 15:2
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

Do you ever feel spread too thin? Most of the people I know, myself included, are so busy with so many projects that we develop a thin quality to our life. We rush around from task to task and celebrate the quantity of our work. We wear our thinness like a badge. "You think you're busy, you should see my schedule to see what REAL busy is." The truth is that thinness rarely bears much fruit.

Prune ~ to rid or clear of anything superfluous or undesirable

As Christmas approaches our calendars get even fuller; our To Do Lists get even longer. Are there some traditions, meetings, tasks, or expectations that could stand to be pruned? Could we prune our calendars enough to truly appreciate and richly celebrate the birth of Jesus?

Joyous celebration will bear more fruit than thin busyness in every season of the year.

Happy pruning!
Lon

P.S. Please write me to share you pruning success stories! Thanks!
